What is an NDIS audit?
An NDIS audit is a comprehensive review of your organisation's compliance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme's requirements. It ensures your business meets all necessary standards for registration and ongoing operation.
An approved auditor can be chosen through the NDIS website.
How long does the registration process take?
After Audit it can take anywhere from 3 to 12 months to be approved by the NDIS Commission. Verification is quicker; certification takes longer because of its two-stage audit. Being audit-ready before you apply is the best way to avoid delays.
What's the difference between a certification and verification audit?
It depends on the supports you deliver. The NDIS Commission decides which audit applies based on your registration groups, and confirms it in your initial scope of audit.
A verification audit is for lower-risk supports. It's a desktop review of your qualifications, insurance, worker screening, and your incident, complaints, risk and HR processes. There's no site visit and no interviews.
A certification audit is for higher-risk supports, including Supported Independent Living. It has two stages: a document review, then an on-site audit with staff and participant interviews. Certified providers also complete a mid-term audit at 18 months.
If any of your supports require certification, your whole audit is a certification audi
How can I prepare for an audit?
We recommend starting with a thorough internal review of your policies and procedures. Our audit guides and mock audit sessions can help you identify potential gaps and ensure you are fully prepared for the official audit process.
What are NDIS Practice Standards?
These are the rules that registered NDIS providers have to meet to show that their supports are safe and good quality. Think of them as the checklist your auditor works through. Which parts apply to you depends on the supports you deliver. Lower-risk providers are checked against a smaller set, while higher-risk providers are checked against the Core Module, plus extra modules for things like behaviour support or Supported Independent Living.
Do you offer ongoing retainer support?
Yes. Retainer arrangements are available for providers who need embedded, ongoing compliance support rather than a one-off project. We'll scope a schedule that works for your organisation.
Can you help with a short-term project?
Absolutely. Many engagements are short-term - audit preparation sprints, policy reviews, or gap analyses ahead of a specific deadline. We scope to your timeline.
Is consulting delivered online?
Yes. All consulting is delivered remotely, which means we work with providers across Australia regardless of location. Video calls, shared documents, and async support are all part of the process.
Travel to visit on site may be discussed.Â
What does a typical engagement look like?
It depends on your needs. A focused audit prep engagement might run 4-6 weeks. A full governance build could be 3-6 months. We'll define this clearly during scoping so you know exactly what to expect.
